Insurance & Subsidies

In this section, we share some basic information about insurance and government subsidies regarding mental health, allowing you to take an informed decision before booking an appointment. You should consult your individual providers for more details.

For clients (in any country) with private insurance like CIGNA: Psychotherapy and counselling is a long established treatment covered by all major insurance providers worldwide. Dozens of our clients use private insurance cover for our services. Please claim back the fees from them AFTER receiving the receipt for our sessions.

For Singapore clients:

Please see below for some helpful information regarding public mental health resources and policies in Singapore.

Eligible patients can receive subsidies of up to 75% at polyclinis and public specialist clinics for outpatient treatment of mental health conditions. Lower income individuals can also apply for MediFund, a safety net for needy Singaporeans.

The Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) covers dementia and 4 mental health conditions - anxiety, bipolar disorder, major depression and schizophrenia. You can use up to $500 or $700 per Medisave account per year, subject to 15% co-payment, depending on the complexity of condition. Those above 60 can use an additional $300 from Flexi-Medisave to offset out of pocket expenses.

The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) helps cover some of the cost of treatment of chronic conditions similar to those described above in the CDMP. In addition, Merdeka Generation (MG) and Pioneer Generation (PG) cardholders can receive subsidies at their nearest CHAS GP clinic too. The amount of subsidy varies depending on category of CHAS. The maximum subsidy is for Pioneer Generation who get up to $135 subsidy per visit, capped at $540 per year.

As a basic principle, please never shy away from treating mental (or physical) health for reasons of cost. There are many options available at the community level for both emergencies and ongoing treatment of mental health conditions - minor, major or chronic. A full list of emergency resources is also listed in the FAQs section in the main page of this website.

Please note that the Healthcare Services Act (HCSA) has replaced the PHMCA in Singapore. Psychotherapy does not need a license under the HCSA and is not listed on the HealthHub. We are registered with the Singapore Association of Counselling (SAC), the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the USATAA.
